This is a small and colorful piece of true Terlingua Calcite from the Little 38 Mine in Terlingua, Texas. Being on the small side, it’s quite affordable. Especially since there has been very little, if any, material brought out since the mine was reclaimed around 2004-2005. Check out the Backstory for more information.
This smaller piece of Terlingua Calcite for sale is very colorful under all wavelengths of ultraviolet light. Under long wave, it shows pink, lilac, orange, and some nice bright yellow patches. These yellow patches also show up under both mid-wave and short wave as well. Viewing the piece under mid-wave, it displays the typical lavender/purple, some orange, and the yellow patches. Under short wave we see the typical blue, and again, the yellow. As with all of this material, it shows the striking blue phosphorescence or afterglow for several seconds after turning off the mid-wave or short wave light.
This small and colorful piece of Terlingua Calcite measures approximately 2 x 1¾ x 1½  inches and weighs 5 ounces. This piece has been SOLD with shipping within the continental United States included in the price.
