This is a little piece of Terlingua Calcite for sale that’s small in size, but has great big color. It’s from the Little 38 Mine in Terlingua, Texas. And even though it’s small, it will be a show-off in your collection or display.
This piece has all of the defining characteristics of Terlingua Calcite. Under long wave ultraviolet (u.v.) light, it glows in multiple shades of pink, including bright, hot pink. It also has some purple and yellow. Under mid-wave it glows in multiple lighter shades of purple, some areas have a greenish tint, and yellow. In short wave, it glows the classic electric blue that always catches our eye. It has the classic phosphorescence or afterglow that lasts for several seconds following exposure to short or mid-wave u.v. And it also has the great triangular areas of bright fluorescence. These triangular areas are another wonderful characteristic of this classic material. This piece also has some nice areas of daylight green color that corresponds with the triangles and the great fluorescent colors.
Here is a disclaimer about this piece. It has a little bit of fluorescence on some of the other faces, but the side pictured is the only good display face. It does, however, sit nicely on its own without being propped.
This small size piece with big color measures approximately 2½ x 2⅛ x 1 inch. At this size, you could call it a large miniature or small cabinet piece. It weighs 4.6 ounces. This piece is SOLD.
