It’s classic because it glows brightly and in multiple colors under multiple wavelengths of ultraviolet light. True Terlingua Calcite comes from only one location: Terlingua, Texas. Calcite from other locations that has similar fluorescence is correctly called “Terlingua-Type” or “Terlingua-Like” calcite.

This colorful piece of true Terlingua Calcite is SOLD. It’s from the Little 38 Mine in Terlingua, Texas. It’s roughly triangular in shape and has good fluorescence on both of the larger faces as well as the edge faces. It has many triangular areas of fluorescent intensity, a desirable feature of this material, but not found in every piece.
The sides or edges of this triangular-shaped piece measure approximately 6 inches, 5 inches and 4¾ inches. It averages about 1½ inches thick, but ranges up to over 2 inches at the thickest spots.
