This is a piece of Terlingua Calcite – 8 pounds for sale. It’s from The Little 38 Mine in Terlingua, Texas. Terlingua Calcite is fairly rare and difficult to find in any size. An 8-pound chunk is practically unheard of!
This piece has all of the typical responses for Terlingua Calcite: pink long wave, lavender mid-wave, and blue short wave, with long lasting phosphorescence or afterglow after both short wave and mid-wave UV exposure. It also has a little bit of short wave green fluorescing chalcedony or hyalite. In long wave it has some yellow and orange and some very pleasing lilac as well.
It weighs just over 8 pounds and measures approximately 6½ x 5¼ x 3¾ inches.
